Network with ISCA on our SAP Business Mission to Shanghai and Nanjing!
We are thrilled to share that Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and our firms embarked on a joint business mission with The Law Society of Singapore (LawSoc) to Shanghai on 25 March 2024 under our new Sustainability Apex Programme! This visit is a testament to our commitment towards fostering global connections and staying at the forefront of industry trends both within the accounting and legal professions.
Networking with local Shanghai firms and gaining new perspectives on the Chinese Carbon Market, local sustainability targets and regulatory goals
We’re thankful to be hosted by PwC Mainland China and Hong Kong where our Shanghai Chapter Chair, Claire Qian, along with her PwC colleagues, Linda Hu and Su Meng shared the latest Chinese Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) trends with our delegation. The session provided valuable insights into China’s reporting requirements, carbon market, and latest developments within the blooming sustainability sector, from professional services (accounting and law firms) perspectives.
Following the sharing, ISCA and Lawsoc co-hosted a networking lunch, inviting speakers from the Shanghai Institute of Certified Public Accountants (SHICPA) and the Shanghai Bar Association (SBA) to share more on China’s long term sustainability targets and regulatory goals. Our delegation also had the opportunity to network with potential new partners.
Forging greater regional cooperation and collaborations with Shanghai Businesses
ISCA was also honoured to co-organise and host a networking high-tea with Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (SingCham) 中国新加坡商会 and Singapore Enterprise Centre @ Shanghai (SEC) 新加坡企业中心@ 上海. During the session, our delegation comprising various Singapore Accounting, Law and Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) firms learnt about the sustainability ecosystem, showcased their services to invited Shanghai local businesses, and forged new connections with similarly aligned ESG professionals!
Creating synergistic partnerships with fellow SMPs from Nanjing!
ISCA delegates visited the Singapore Nanjing Eco High-Tech Island to understand the vision of the island and hear about future developments. It was truly an eye-opener to learn more about how this international collaboration effort utilizes high-tech innovation, environment-focused design practice and unique workplace design strategies to significantly reduce excess energy consumption and be more water efficient.
Thank you RSM and C&T partners for hosting us and giving us a tour around the new inclusive workplace. What truly set this experience apart was the sense of community. Interacting with like-minded professionals. The exchange of ideas and insights was not just enriching; it was a reminder that in the face of global challenges, collaboration is key.
ISCA also had the chance to engage Jiangsu Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA) and the Nanjing Lawyers Association (NLA) to learn more about the new trends in Jiangsu for the professional services sector.
This concludes the end of our joint business mission trip with LawSoc under our new Sustainability Apex Programme. We are thankful for the opportunities to connect with our partners and look forward to future collaborations together!
As the national accountancy body, one of the key roles ISCA plays is to support and facilitate SMP development and we look after the interests of over 700 public accounting firms in Singapore. We will continue to curate more opportunities and initiatives like our business study missions, to raise the capabilities of our SMPs, grow their businesses, and build future-ready practices.
